This post today features our speaker from Drug Discovery World Asia 2012, part of a series of conferences at the 5th Annual BioPharma Asia Convention 2012, held on 19-22 March at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
Firstly, a brief introduction. Dr Kottepa Pari joined the Piramal Group in 2005. Currenly he is the Senior Group Leader and Head of Discovery Analytical Sciences, as well as head of the NMR/ protein NMR research facility, working on protein-drug interaction studies by NMR and understanding the structure, conformation and dynamics of the target proteins. Other areas that he is involved in include ligand screening and lead identification by NMR and other biophysical tools involving CD and fluorescence spectroscopy. Dr Pari was also with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA as a postdoctoral fellow from 2000 to 2005.
Dr Pari carried out Ph.D. research at the Pusa Institute, New Delhi in the field of organic chemistry. He obtained his master's degree (1993, Organic chemistry) and bachelor's degree (Physics, Maths and Chemistry from the University of Gulbarga, Gulbarga, Karnataka, India.
At Drug Discovery World Asia 2012, Dr Pari will be presenting on the following:
Formulating lead validation strategies to explore the key factor for future success in target validation: An NMR based approach
1. Improved ligand screening and lead optimization by NMR
2. Understanding target structure and its dynamics
3. Effective characterisation of the target-ligand complex
