Developing a cell line early warning system

How important is the early identification of the instability of specific cell lines in terms of reducing production times and costs?

Very? Then take a look at the presentation delivered by Dr Ulrich Göpfert, Senior Scientist at Roche Pharmaceuticals, entitled "Development of an early warning system for production instability".

Ulrich spoke at the 2012 Cell Culture World Congress in Munich, and his presentation went on to explore a new real-time qPCR which can deliver fast and sensitive measurements in multiple cell lines; effectively acting as an early warning system for production instability.

He also posed the questions: Will this early identification lead to other beneficial outcomes?  Will it result in better clones in terms of bioprocess robustness and productivity?
