Pathogens such as Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumonia and Haemophilus influenzae type b are major causative agents for bacterial meningitis, bacterial pneumonia and other infections. All these pathogens have capsular polysaccharide which differ in chemical structures and responsible for the virulence. Meningococcal meningitis has highest rates of disease in Sub-Saharan Africa with epidemic occurring at an interval of 7-14 year. As per WHO fact sheets nearly 1.4 million children below 5 year age die due to pneumonia and nearly 0.4 million die due to Hib. Millions more suffer disability and illness due these pathogens even after appropriate antibiotic treatment.
